Deborah Lippmann Something Blue

Deborah Lippmann Something Blue
2 coats, topcoat added

I had a rough time with Something Blue. It's from the Happily Ever After mini collection and I picked it up at TJ Maxx recently for $10. It's meant to be left matte- described on the box as "mat teen finish" but it looked horrible! Very uneven and chalky and so many brushstrokes so I added some topcoat to salvage it a bit. Still don't love it, but it's much much better!

Deborah Lippmann Raspberry Beret

Deborah Lippmann Raspberry Beret
2 coats

A few years ago, I purchased a Breast Cancer Awareness bag of goodies at Ulta and it included a mini bottle of Deborah Lippmann Raspberry Beret, a shade that was new to me. It appears that it originally appeared in the Deborah Lippmann  "She's Always a Woman Nail Polish Set" that was sold in late 2012.

With the recent passing of Prince, I suddenly remembered that I'd never gotten around to trying this shade and decided to remedy that. It's really pretty! It's described as "flecked berry 3D holographic". I'd call it a red-leaning berry containing irregular shaped iridescent flakes. Two coats gave me great coverage.

My Collection of Deborah Lippmann Polish

I recently got my first two Helmers, and I am trying to get organized! Deborah Lippmann is a brand that I don't have very many of, but I really have been pleased with the ones I do have (with the exception of Marquee Moon). I think the bottle shape is so classy and elegant.

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings the Blues

Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings the Blues

This is so so so pretty! You can see I had to cut my nails down a bit.... I had pretty good breaks on two nails and decided patching would be more trouble that it would be worth, so I just cut them down. I am loving this color on shorter nails.

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle

Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle

Deborah does these glitters so well.... love this one! Two coats wasn't quite enough to I added a third and it was PERFECT. I added a coat of Gelous before my my topcoat to help smooth it out.

Another blogger mentioned she got some staining from Razzle Dazzle, but I did not. I used an Avon mineral basecoat that I think has been discontinued for a while, and it seemed to keep it from staining for me.

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Ray of Light

Deborah Lippmann Ray of Light

Look at that flakie goodness!

I'm over the moon for this one. I saw another blogger say their bottle was thick and hard to work with, but mine applied wonderfully in two coats. I went ahead and did a third coat on the pinkie to see if there was that much difference, and I decided I like 2 coats best so I stopped.

In some lights, the flakes are green, and in others, red/orange.

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream

Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream (2 coats)

macro shot

My niece loved this polish! It was a top-coat eater after one coat of NYC Grand Central Station, so I added two coats of Gelous and another coat of NYC Grand Central Station in an effort to smooth it out. Totally took care of the problem and I am absolutely loving this.

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Superstar

Deborah Lippmann Superstar

This is from the 2008 Holiday collection, but I thought it was pretty perfect for the Halloween season too!

The above swatch is two coats, and is still quite bumpy after a thick coat of Seche Vite. Next time I'll probably try a coat of Gelous before I apply SV.

But it's quite a stunner.... don't you think?

Swatch: Lippmann I Know What Boys Want

Deborah Lippmann I Know What Boys Want

I been sitting on this swatch for a few weeks... not posting it because I'm a bit ashamed. I LOVE the color, but I am so sad about my polishing job for this swatch! I'm afraid I didn't wrap the tips, and then I did quite a bit of paper-shuffling the next day, so by the time I got around to taking my pic after work, there was terrible tip wear. Such a shame- this is just a gorgeous color.

I ordered this Lippmann from Apothica, and I still am absolutely loving this brand, despite the quality of this swatch.

Here's another Lippmann I ordered from Apothica, and my love for this brand continue to grow. This shade applied like a dream! The above swatch is 2 coats topped with Seche Vite.

I'll be swatching I Know What Boys Want soon- next hopefully!

Deborah Lippmann Girls Just Want to Have Fun

I recently ordered a few Lippmanns from Apothica, and this was the first one I wanted to try.

I think it is just gorgeous. This is two coats, and I continue to be impressed with DL polishes.... they apply like a dream, and seem to work well with my beloved Seche Vite. I also got I Know What Boys Want as well as Daytripper, so look for swatches of those soon.

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers

Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers

Although the effect of this polish was gorgeous, I have to tell you first that removal of this, like Marquee Moon, was a big fat pain.

I used the scrubby tub that I usually use for glitters, and it got the base polish and smaller glitter off just fine.... but I was still left with large silver hex-glitter pieces stuck to my nails, and no amount of time in the scrubby tub would remove them.

I had to use my thumbnail and scrape them off. That can't be good!

Krystal at Polish Galore used a coat of black underneath, so that may be the way to go to make removal easier. Anyone else tried that and had good luck?

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Marquee Moon

Deborah Lippmann Marquee Moon

This was my very first Lippman, and I was pretty excited to try it. But the hex glitter was problematic for OCD me, and I was unsettled the whole time I had this on because of the uneven-ness of it.......

Three coats might have helped, but this polish was just stressing me out and I couldn't do another coat.

Anyone else bothered by this polish?
