Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Bling-tastic

Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Bling-tastic
2 coats

I thought I had swatched all the Sally Hansen Gem Crush shades I had- some went sent to me, and I purchased a few a while back. But I ran across one I never took a photo of, although I do believe I have worn it.

You can actually get pretty great coverage with these- this swatch is just two coats and other than the pinkie, which could use another coat, my other fingers look great. As a side note, these also work great as glitter toppers over a coordinating base shade. I actually think they wear a bit better that way too.

Here's a shade pic so you can see the glitter shades a bit better- smaller turquoise hex glitter mixed with larger silver hex glitter.

Sally Hansen Gem Crush Swatches

We've been having lots of overcast days lately, which is not great for a nail blogger who likes to take swatch shots outside!

But yesterday the sun was out after I got home from work, so I got out some Gem Crush shades sent to me for review and got some quick swatches done.

Left to right, 2 coats each
Razzle Dazzler- light rose-toned pink with silver glitter
Be-Jeweled- light purple with pink glitter
Big Money- gold with light purple glitter
Showgirl Chic- silver with blue glitter

Although these are great on their own, I also think they are cool to use as a glitter coat on top of a coordinating shade.
Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Glitz Gal (2 coats)
over 1 coat of Orly Iron Butterfly

Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Cha-Ching! (2 coats)
over 1 coat of Sally Hansen Hard As Wraps in Heartbeat Cream

Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Lady Luck (2 coats)
over 2 coats Sephora by OPI It's My Pink

One thing to note is that these are very hungry glitters.... they eat topcoat, so I have found that adding a coat of Gelous before using Seche Vite really helps smooth them out.

Disclosure: These Gem Crush shades were sent to me for review purposes.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Lady Luck

Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Lady Luck (2 coats)
over 2 coats Sephora by OPI It's My Pink

After I had worn It's My Pink for two days, I wanted to spice it up a bit. I added 2 coats of Lady Luck and Ba-Bam! (anybody else watch Good Luck Charlie with their kids?)

NOTD: Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Cha-Ching!

Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Cha-Ching!

(two coats over one coat of Sally Hansen Hard As Wraps in Heartbeat Cream)
topped with one coat of Gelous and one coat of Seche Vite

I loved this so much! It was so eye-catching and glitzy.

It wore fabulously for about 2 1/2 days, then it did start to chip. Not a big deal to me, since I have polish ADD and am ready for a new shade after a day or two anyway.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Glitz Gal

This is just gorgeous! Last month I tried Glitz Gal on it's own, but didn't like the sheer-ness of it. This time I decided to start with a charcoal grey polish as a base coat and Iron Butterfly fit the bill. (By the way, I totally bought Iron Butterfly because I am a big fan of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.)

Glitz Gal is a very hungry polish- it ate up my first coat of Seche Vite. It dried super-fast, but the texture was so bumpy, I knew I would be messing with it all day. So I added two coats of Gelous, and then another coat of Seche Vite and it was much better.

Bling Bling

Hi Girls! It's April from dot...dot...dot... - it's been a while since I have participated here on Manicure Mommas, but I am back and will be showing off my polish color each week!
Enjoy!! :o)
Nail color of the week ... Sally Hansen's Bling-tastic from their new Gem Crush line.

Base coat: Essie's Fill The Gap

3 Coats of Bling-tastic

Top Coat: Seche Vite

I am LOVING this color. I needed 3 layers to coat each nail. By the 3rd time around, I found that the glitter stayed better if I tapped it on with the brush, rather than glide it across my nails. The finished results are quite smooth ... tons of aqua-blue glitter and silvery-gold pieces, too! What do you think??

So sorry for the iPhone pics ... I should really pull out my fancy camera to show you just how vivid and gorgeous this color actually is, but that involves a lot more process time. I am all about quick and simple these days! :o)
