NOTD: Sephora by OPI Havana Dreams
Sephora by OPI Havana Dreams
I am finally done swatching the Sephora by OPI Havana Nights collection (from 2010, of course!)!
My swatch above is 3 coats, and it probably could have used a 4th for perfect coverage. My ADD kicked in after 3 though and I just couldn't do a 4th! This one is still available at www.sephora.com.
A few weeks ago I tried this using Gelous as my basecoat, and I could not get even coverage, even at 4 coats. So this time I used CND Stickey and got much better coverage. This one definitely needs a rubberized basecoat.

I am finally almost done swatching the Sephora by OPI Havana Nights collection (from 2010, of course!)!
My swatch above is 2 coats, and it really covered nicely. If you look closely at my ring finger, you'll see a spot without complete coverage, but I believe I just missed a spot on my second coat. All the other nails looks fabulous and don't need a third coat. This one is still available at www.sephora.com.

Loving this muted mint green. It was a bit patchy at two coats, so I added a third and it was perfect. Sometimes this type of color seems to give me lobster hands, but Read My Palm seemed to work just fine with my warm coloring.

Oh my gosh, I just got a headache on Sephora's site. I tried to look and see if any of these shades from Havana Nights made it into their core collection so I could share that info, but I cannot stand the way they have their shade selection set up. Why can't it be alphabetical? You have to hover over each of the shade squares to see the name... what a bother!
Moving on.... the above swatch is three coats and turned out to be a perfect "Thunder" mani to represent my local NBA team. It's really pretty and I can't believe I've waited this long to wear this one!
Do you like how Sephora is showing their Sephora by OPI nail polish selection now?

The above swatch is two coats, but really needed to be three. One thing about this shade- the glitter gets thinner at the edges, so it's pretty hard to get good coverage of your tips. I did wrap the tips, but the combo of thin glitter coverage and a few hours of working with much paper before the sun came out wrecked havoc on the tips, and you can see that above.
I was afraid this shade would look bad with my warm coloring, but I actually thought it looked good.

NOTD: Sephora by OPI Caliente Coral
Sephora by OPI Caliente Coral
This shade is from the Havana Nights collection from 2010. I just realized I never quite got around to swatching it all, so I think I am going to do that this week.
This is a great coral cream, and it covered well in two coats.
Here are the other swatches I have done from Havana Nights, but I think I will re-do them since they aren't as close-up as I am doing my pics these days.

NOTD: Sephora by OPI Midnight Mambo
I left these big for you (click to enlarge) because the glitter is absolutely gorgeous and it helps to see the pic big to get the full effect.
This is two coats, topped with Seche Vite.
The finish is a little uneven, like heavy glitters can be. I hope that the SV would even it out, and although it did help, it didn't completely smooth it out. I'm not all that bothered by it, but it is a different finish than we are used to.
This is one of those polishes that I just keep staring at- it's just gorgeous!

NOTD: Sephora by OPI Teal We Meet Again

Most readers probably know that I post day-old manis- I paint before bed and then typically don't have time to take a pic until I get home from work the next day. So I suppose a bonus to this method is you get to see how the polish wears.
I ended up with quite a bit of tip wear yesterday. I did do a monster amount of filing and organizing at work, so I actually wasn't at all suprised to see how much tip wear I got.
I am still loving this polish though- it's just gorgeous. I don't typically wrap the tips like a lot of people do, but next time I'm doing filing I'll give that a try and see if it makes a difference.
This shade is from the Havana Nights collection and was purchased by me from Sephora.

NOTD: Sephora by OPI Caribbean Cocktail
This shade is from the Havana Nights collection, and when I did a skittles mani of a few of the shades last week, this one stood out to me as a quick fave.
Isn't that pretty? I've been so busy lately that this is a two day old mani, three coats, topped with Seche Vite, of course!

Sephora by OPI Havana Night Skittles
Havana Dreams (3 coats)
Caribbean Cocktail (3 coats)
Teal We Meet Again (2 coats)
Read My Palm (2 coats)
I am absolutely in love with this collection- I have two more shades to show you later. Right now I think Caribbean Cocktail is my favorite- how gorgeous is that shimmer?
The formula on these was nice- the only one I had problems with was Havana Dreams (light blue)- next time I may try it over a coat of white to see if that helps with the streakiness- and I think one more coat of the color might have solved the problem.
These retail for $9 each from Sephora.
