CND Vinylux in Steel Gaze- plus wear test

CND Vinylux in Steel Gaze (2 coats)
topped with CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat

Steel Gaze is an olive green sparkly base with gold and silver glimmer that's pretty sheer. I just used 2 coats and was pretty happy with it, but I later noticed that I probably need a third coat to get complete coverage.

But the good news is.... it wore great! Of the three shades I have tried, this is the only one where I've been pleased with the wear time.

Here's a shade pic of the fresh mani.

And here's a pic after 5 days of wear. I was really impressed with this shade! Just some tipwear, which didn't seem too apparent probably due to the glittery shade, and absolutely no chipping.

Here's some more info:

*No base coat is required, in fact, you are not supposed to use a base coat.
*I *love* that this was dry, enough to rub my nails without damage, in just 8 1/2 minutes.

*The polish applied easily onto the nail with great pigmentation.
*Even though no base coat was used, I got absolutely no staining, and it was super easy to remove using my normal method- the scrubby tub.

CND Vinylux Wear Report

CND Vinylux in Tinted Love (3 coats)
after 4 full days of wear

*Left hand shows tipwear, middle finger has beginning of chip

*Right hand has several fingers with chips near tip
*Finish is not even and glossy, scratches in surface are showing

So this was my second try with CND Vinylux. Again, not a very good result. Quite disappointing for a polish that promises to last for a week.

HOWEVER, I am currently wearing yet another shade, and I am having fabulous luck with it- so the results may vary widely across the line and depend on the shade selected. Stay tuned for more on that!

CND Vinylux in Tinted Love

CND Vinylux in Tinted Love
3 coats

The last time I tried a shade from CND Vinylux I wasn't overly impressed. I thought I would give it another try with a different shade. I did need 3 coats of Tinted Love to get opaque coverage, and I topped it with CND's Vinylux Weekly Top Coat. This pic was taken the morning after I did my mani. By that afternoon I already had significant tipwear on my other hand....... Stayed tuned to see my final thoughts soon.

CND Vinylux Wear Test

CND Vinylux Weekly Polish in Night Glimmer (2 coats)
topped with CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat

Photo taken right after painting- Day 1

photo taken exactly three days later- Day 4
significant tip wear

significant chipping around sides of nail

I wanted to love CND Vinylux. I really did. And there were a few things I really did like.

1. No base coat is required, in fact, you are not supposed to use a base coat.

2. I *love* that this was dry, enough to rub my nails without damage, in just 8 1/2 minutes. I painted them about an hour before we went out for dinner and it was nice not to have to worry about denting my polish.

3. The polish applied easily onto the nail with great pigmentation.

4. Even though no base coat was used, I got absolutely no staining, and it was super easy to remove using my normal method- the scrubby tub.

But I did not like the chips that started appearing on day 4. To me, they were bad enough that it had to be removed. I can get wear similar to that with my regular base and top coats......

I'm going to give Vinylux another try with a different shade and see what kind of results I get. But I was definitely disappointed in the wear time of this mani.
