Borghese Holiday 2010 Collection

I was recently sent some of the shades from the Borghese 2010 Holiday Collection to try. These are quite pretty, and most are unique to my collection.

One thing to note: three of the shades in the collection dry matte, while the red, gold, and black from the collection dry shiny. I have all three mattes to show you, and the gold shiny shade.

You can click on the pics to enlarge them some and see the matte vs. shiny effect.

Ipnotico Gold (shiny finish)

There was another shade that I was sent that was a casualty of shipping... it was a black base with silver glitter and looked lovely.

Disclosure: I was sent these for review purposes.

Target Introduces Holiday 2010 Collection from Sonia Kashuk

Reach for the Stars Nails Trio

Add a festive touch to your look with these glamorous holiday nail shades. Rich gold, burnished silver and sparkling ruby shades infused with subtle shimmer are perfect for celebrating the season.

The set, from Sonia Kashuk, will be available for $9.99 at Target.
The pretty shade, described as "rich gold", almost looks foil-like. I typically don't like golden shades with my skintone, but I thought this was quite wearable.

This shade is described as "burnished silver" and applied fabulously. The color reminded me of Zoya Loredana.

The last shade, described as "sparkling ruby" was also gorgeous. I thought this shade also was wearable for my warm skintone.

This was my first time to try Sonia Kashuk nail polish, and I was pleased. I thought the average price of $3.33 per bottle was a great value, and this set would be a good way to add some holiday colors to your collection.

Note that my bottles have no color names on them, so I referred to them as they were described in the press release.

Disclosure: This collection was sent to me for review purposes.

NOTD: Sephora by OPI Go with the Flow-er

Sephora by OPI Go with the Flow-er

I know, I know. Everyone is starting to wear fall shades, and while I am TOTALLY ready for fall, I still have a few summer purchases I want to wear.

I did three coats and you can still see a bit of VNL.

But I absolutely love the color and think the shimmer is gorgeous!

BTW, I am also trying out a bottle of Nubar Diamont topcoat, and I love it! So much less shrinkage than I get when I use Seche Vite. I hear that Nubar has recently changed the formula, and the new formula is not getting as much love. My bottle is at least a year old, although it was unopened until this week.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Purple Fiesta

Sally Hansen Purple Fiesta

I have heard a lot of people say they are underwhelmed by this shade, but I like it! Of course, I am a major purple lover (my favorite color by far) so I was pretty sure I'd like it.

I think it's the random bar glitter that some don't like, but it didn't bother me- I thougth it added character.

Fall Avon Shades

Avon had their polish on sale 2 for $5.99 right now, which is a bargain, so I picked up a few shades to try out.

Avon Pale Gold
Very pretty- reminds me of OPI She's Golden.

Avon Rose Gold
Uh oh- bordering on Grandma color here...... not a great shade on me.

Avon Golden Sand

A very interesting color- I am not sure how I feel about this one.... I need to wear it for a day or so and see what I think.

Avon Olive Green (not exactly new, but I hadn't swatched it yet)

This is ONE coat- it's very pigmented and there was no need for another coat, which is fabulous! You may note some bubbling, but I think that is due to the thicker base coat I used for swatching- I think it's due some thinner.

I order from my friend Valeri (email her at bucfanri {at} gmail {dot} com and she may have free shipping codes for you!)

And don't forget to go through Ebates for a percentage back- plus, if you have never used ebates before, you get $5, and I get $5.

Nail Polish News Makes the Wall Street Journal

I read the Wall Street Journal for business purposes, as I work in the accounting field, and it's not too often that nail polish topics are found in that paper.

But yesterday, there was an article entitled "How the Runway Influences Your Manicure, Too".

Cool!

I was losing a battle with the sun, and didn't have my bottle handy, so I just went with it. This color was gorgeous and eye-catching!

Dainty Darling Digits has some better pics of the collection it is from.

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Marquee Moon

Deborah Lippmann Marquee Moon

This was my very first Lippman, and I was pretty excited to try it. But the hex glitter was problematic for OCD me, and I was unsettled the whole time I had this on because of the uneven-ness of it.......

Three coats might have helped, but this polish was just stressing me out and I couldn't do another coat.

Anyone else bothered by this polish?
