NOTD: Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Lady Luck

Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Lady Luck (2 coats)
over 2 coats Sephora by OPI It's My Pink

After I had worn It's My Pink for two days, I wanted to spice it up a bit. I added 2 coats of Lady Luck and Ba-Bam! (anybody else watch Good Luck Charlie with their kids?)

Disclosure: The Gem Crush shade was provided to me for review purposes.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Smooth & Perfect Color + Care in Sorbet

I was recently sent some shades from the Smooth & Perfect Color + Care line to try, and I was excited to try them out. I chose Sorbet to try first and I am so glad I did- I really like the way it looks with my skintone. I got a bit of a tan this weekend from the half marathon I ran.

For this mani, I did a base of CND Stickey, 2 coats of color and topped it with Seche Vite. I actually wore this for 3 full days and it still looked fabulous.

The shades in this line retail for about $5.50.

THINK: Let your nails breathe

WHAT IT IS: Creamy color and porcelain-smooth perfection in one beautiful polish. The latest trend to hit your fingertips. Nearly naked, barely-there color with plenty of shine. The ultimate in understated elegance, sheer shades and healthy even shine work for every occasion. That’s why Sally Hansen created a chic collection of nude nail polishes that marries the two, Smooth and Perfect Color + Care, the ultimate fusion of perfecting polish and beautifying care.

Designed to hide ridges and imperfections, the uniquely breathable formula promotes stronger, healthier looking nails with a patented technology that allows for up to 20% more oxygen to reach the nail. The result? Ridges and imperfections are virtually erased and nails are left looking smooth, shiny and porcelain perfect.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Cha-Ching!

Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Cha-Ching!

(two coats over one coat of Sally Hansen Hard As Wraps in Heartbeat Cream)
topped with one coat of Gelous and one coat of Seche Vite

I loved this so much! It was so eye-catching and glitzy.

It wore fabulously for about 2 1/2 days, then it did start to chip. Not a big deal to me, since I have polish ADD and am ready for a new shade after a day or two anyway.

NOTD: Sephora by OPI It's My Pink

Sephora by OPI It's My Pink

On Monday I had to attend a quarterly board meeting, which as board meetings can be, was pretty boring. HOWEVER, my number was drawn for a prize, and I won a $30 Visa gift card! Guess where I went before I headed home that night..... Sephora!

I'd been super-curious about the scented shade from the Betsey Johnson collection that is scented with her Too Too Perfume so I picked that one up. (I also nicely let the salesgirl know that there is quite a design flaw in their new nail polish display.... since each row is lit from below, you cannot see the swatches of the shades at all..... it's a terrible display.)

The above swatch is two coats, pic taken in my bathroom due to the crazy rainfall we were receiving. I have to tell you that even after topping with Seche Vite, the smell was detectable for the entire two days I wore the polish. It smelled great and I would get a whip of it when my hands got near my face.

NOTD: Sephora by OPI It's Totally Karma

Sephora by OPI It's Totally Karma

described as: Fashion-forward, wearable nail color in an opaque lime green.

I still laugh when I see that Sephora totally puts "opaque" on every.single.color.description.

Although I'm not wild about lime green with my skintone, it'll fit the bill for St. Patrick's Day. Did you do a green mani? Link to it in the comments and I'll stop by and say hello!

Avon Powerful Pink

This certainly leans more red than pink if you ask me.

It doesn't look like this shade is available any longer, but no big loss. It's nice, but nothing spectacular.

Milani 3D Holographic in Cyberspace

I, along with the rest of the nail polish world, am currently obsessed with holos. Isn't this gorgeous? The Milani holos are pretty easy to find, and reasonably priced. I picked this one up at CVS for around $5 I think.

The above swatch is three coats, topped with Seche Vite.

Spring is here!!

Snagged a 4-pack of random polishes at Ross in fun colors that I wanted to try, but didn't want to splurge on name-brand full bottles ...
Of course, there are no names to these colors, so you think of your own. Spring Green? Lime Sorbet? Frankly, this color screams of a certain famous ogre that already has a fabulous line of polishes named after him and his crew ...
After painting my nails this lovely shade, I noticed the cups on my desk at work. This color must have been subconsciously embedded somewhere ...
I wasn't loving it, so I added some pink dots for fun. No sense in wasting a day-old mani, right? I don't think I will be rockin' this color anytime in the future. I think it looked too sickly with my skin tones.
I am happy that Spring is on its way though! We have gotten a day or two of beautiful sunshine here in the Pacific Northwest, and it puts me in the best of moods! To celebrate, I am hosting a Spring Swap over on my blog, dot...dot...dot...! Pop on over if you want to participate in the fun!!
Have a wonderful weekend!!

NOTD: Revlon Colorstay in Marmalade

Revlon ColorStay in Marmalade

3 coats

Last month I picked up a red shade from the new Revlon ColorStay collection. This new collection has the tagline "Gel-Like shine and up to 11 days of shatterproof color*." The asterisk below that line states: "*When worn with ColorStay™ base & top coats".

I was very curious about this polish, so I picked up the base and top coats as well.

I'm have to admit that I'm so addicted to Seche Vite, I'm hesitant to try anything else. So this little group of three bottles has set in my kitchen cabinet all month. But this week CVS has a fabulous sale on all their Revlon polishes, so I ran up there last night and picked up this oh-so-springy Marmalade shade. I basically got paid to take this out of the store.

Here's how: All Revlon nail polish is $4.79. You will get $3 Extra Care Bucks to use on your next purchase. I used a $3/1 Revlon CVS store coupon that printed from their Magic Coupon Machine when I went in the store and paid $1.79, and got back $3 ECB. Hell of a deal.

So I decided that free polish = a sign to give it a try. I painted my nails, using their base and top coats, and went to bed about an hour later.

And woke up to terrible sheet marks! So I added a coat of clear polish and topped it with Seche Vite this morning. I guess I will be using Seche Vite after their top coat from now on! But I do love this shade and am so so so ready for spring!

Speaking of spring, I spotted this on Sephora and am dying for this set of nail polish in Pantone's color for 2012, Tangerine Tango. It's not available for purchase yet, but I will certainly stalking it.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Glitz Gal

Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Glitz Gal

over one coat of Orly Iron Butterfly

(click pic to enlarge)

This is just gorgeous! Last month I tried Glitz Gal on it's own, but didn't like the sheer-ness of it. This time I decided to start with a charcoal grey polish as a base coat and Iron Butterfly fit the bill. (By the way, I totally bought Iron Butterfly because I am a big fan of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.)

Glitz Gal is a very hungry polish- it ate up my first coat of Seche Vite. It dried super-fast, but the texture was so bumpy, I knew I would be messing with it all day. So I added two coats of Gelous, and then another coat of Seche Vite and it was much better.

Essie Pearl Perfection

Essie Pearl Perfection over

OPI Wooden Shoe Like To Know?

I know some of you nail polish ladies are like me, after a day or so of wearing a color, I get a little itchy and even if the mani still looks great, I am ready for a new look.

Essie's Luxeffects Collection is perfect for this situation! I just applied a coat of Pearl Perfection over my day-old mani and not only freshened it up, but changed the look a bit. (I topped this with a coat of Seche Vite.)

In the sun, this was so pretty. Lots of pink and blue shimmer.

This week I seem to be into browns/olives with hidden shimmer, don't I? :-)

This shade is from OPI's Holland Collection. I really like this one- application was a breeze, and this swatch is two coats topped with Seche Vite. It's a milky chocolate with a bronze shimmer in the sun that is just gorgeous.

Sephora by OPI Happy Earth Day To Me

described as: Fashion-forward, wearable nail color in an opaque dark army brown.

By the way, they totally put "opaque" on every.single.color.description.

I'm a little "meh" about this one. The application was fabulous, but the color is a little too baby-poop for me. I think I'll have to top it with something today.... any ideas?
