Revlon Popular

Revlon Popular
(3 coats)

shade pic

Revlon Popular is really pretty- I love the "jelly sandwich" look and love that this one polish takes care of it for me- no need to layer two polishes to get the look.

Popular is pretty sheer and I needed 3 coats to get good even coverage. Topped with NYC Grand Central Station, dry time was normal for me- I painted my nails and went to bed about an hour later.

Sally Hansen Color Frenzy in Red White & Hue

Sally Hansen Color Frenzy in Red White & Hue (1 coat)
Over 2 coats of OPI Pretty & Privileged

Happy 4th of July! I recently received this new Sally Hansen Color Frenzy shade for review purposes and thought it would make a fabulous holiday mani. It is a clear base with red, white and blue glitters in both bigger and small sizes. Just one coat goat great coverage. I saw another blogger use this over a light blue shade and it looked amazing!

Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Bling-tastic

Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Bling-tastic
2 coats

I thought I had swatched all the Sally Hansen Gem Crush shades I had- some went sent to me, and I purchased a few a while back. But I ran across one I never took a photo of, although I do believe I have worn it.

You can actually get pretty great coverage with these- this swatch is just two coats and other than the pinkie, which could use another coat, my other fingers look great. As a side note, these also work great as glitter toppers over a coordinating base shade. I actually think they wear a bit better that way too.

Here's a shade pic so you can see the glitter shades a bit better- smaller turquoise hex glitter mixed with larger silver hex glitter.

Revlon Brazilian Beach

 Revlon Brazilian Beach
2 coats
(pic taken in shade because this one in the sun freaked out my camera!)
from the Haute Rocks Pebbled Nail Enamel Collection

Today I've got another shade from the Revlon Haute Rocks Pebbled Nail Enamel Collection. Last week I found this collection at my local CVS and chose a few shades to purchase. (Retail price was $5.99 each, but there was an ECB deal on them at the time to make them cheaper.)

These Limited Edition Collection shades contains a matte base packed with glitter. The display referred to "3D matte sparkle inspired by exotic pebbled beaches."

Although the other two shades I tried from this line had a tinted base that helped me achieve pretty complete coverage in two coats, Brazilian Beach's base is just barely tinted, so my natural nail did show through. One option to remedy this might be to use a nude shade as undies.

I did find that this one dried relatively smooth, as did Balinese Bay and Lana'i Lagoon.

Here's a macro shot of the glitter- I do think the different sizes of gold and copper glitters are gorgeous.

Again, I was impressed with the coverage I got in just two coats. As with Lana'i Lagoon, this was actually pretty smooth!

Pop Culture Cosmetics Wonderland over CoverGirl XL Gel in Ample Apple

Pop Culture Cosmetics Wonderland (1 coat)
over CoverGirl XL Gel in Ample Apple (2 coats)

shade picture

Today I'm wearing another of the three glitter toppers I won in March I in giveaway from Pop Culture Cosmetics.

I did just one coat of Wonderland (using a dabbing method) and got what I consider to be great coverage for a glitter topper. I waited a bit, applied a thick coat of Gelous to help smooth it out, and did my normal topcoat of NYC Grand Central Station and had a really smooth result. I do see some glitter shapes and colors that I didn't get in this application on these four fingers- there are also some black spades and clubs in the bottle in addition to the hearts and diamonds I did get in this pic- so this polish contains all four of the card suits.

Thanks to Pop Culture Cosmetics for an awesome giveaway- I'll be featuring the last shade soon!

Pop Culture Cosmetics Fairyland over China Glaze You Drive Me Coconuts

In March I won a giveaway from Pop Culture Cosmetics (yay!) and received three awesome glitter polishes. After I wore China Glaze You Drive Me Coconuts, I thought it would be a perfect base for Pop Culture Cosmetics Fairyland- and I was right! I love how this turned out.

NOTD: Revlon Glitz & Glam

Revlon Glitz & Glam

This is a dark pink jelly base jam packed with tons of pink glitter. The above swatch is two coats, topped with Seche Vite. The SV smoothed it out pretty well.

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Superstar

Deborah Lippmann Superstar

This is from the 2008 Holiday collection, but I thought it was pretty perfect for the Halloween season too!

The above swatch is two coats, and is still quite bumpy after a thick coat of Seche Vite. Next time I'll probably try a coat of Gelous before I apply SV.

But it's quite a stunner.... don't you think?

NOTD: OPI Show It & Glow It!

OPI Show It & Glow It!

I have had this shade from the Burlesque Collection in my untrieds for quite a while, and now I don't know why I didn't try it earlier! It's absolutely gorgeous and I found 3 coats gave perfect opaque coverage.

Now, it's definitely a top-coat eater, but I don't mind that all that much. It's still a bit textured feeling even after applying a nice thick coat of Seche Vite. It's so pretty, I'm not bothered.

I've heard removal of these glitters requires some patience, so I'll report back after I give that a try.

Ooooh ... Sparkles!!

Doesn't this color remind you of the gorgeous waters off a tropical island?
Aaaahh ... take me away!
Base (one coat) - OPI Get Me To The Taj On Time (a creamy nude)
Glitter Goodness (2 coats) - Color Club Sexy Siren

My latest pedicure ... I love how the nail techs look at me like I am crazy sometimes. They tell me that I pick the colors that barely get used. I adore the bright colors, especially the blues. They make me smile!

Borghese Holiday 2010 Collection

I was recently sent some of the shades from the Borghese 2010 Holiday Collection to try. These are quite pretty, and most are unique to my collection.

One thing to note: three of the shades in the collection dry matte, while the red, gold, and black from the collection dry shiny. I have all three mattes to show you, and the gold shiny shade.

You can click on the pics to enlarge them some and see the matte vs. shiny effect.

Ipnotico Gold (shiny finish)

There was another shade that I was sent that was a casualty of shipping... it was a black base with silver glitter and looked lovely.

Disclosure: I was sent these for review purposes.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Red Carpet

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Red Carpet

Pictures absolutely do not do this justice- the glitter is much more apparent in person and just fabulous- it's a "lit from within" glitter- it just glows!

This is two coats topped with Seche Vite, and I'm in love. Although this looks similar to China Glaze Ruby Pumps, I suspect it will be much easier to remove since the glitter is much much finer. I'll report back if I'm wrong!

NOTD: Zoya Nova

Zoya Nova (3 coats)

Last fall I saw Scrangie post a preview of the Zoya Ulta Glitters and I knew I had to have the two pinks. I hate that I am just now getting around to trying them, but maybe I buy too much polish? Never!

At any rate, I have to tell you I am a bit disappointed. I am wondering if Scrangie's swatches might be 4-5 coats? My 3 coat mani was just not as poppin' as hers... but I just can't be bothered for more coats!

As with most of my pics, this is a day old mani- I paint before bed and usually don't take pics until I get off work the next day. You can see some tips wear.

Anyone have any experience with the Ultra Glitters? How many coats did you use?

NOTD: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Rockstar Pink

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Rockstar Pink

Although I am loving the way this looks, it was a little hard to apply. I ended up doing an extra coat on just the tips, as if I was doing a french, do make sure to get the glitter all the way to the ends.

So this is three coats (and four on the tips). Mr. Sasha said it didn't look at all like I color I would wear, but I think it looks pretty cool!
