OPI A Grape Affair

OPI A Grape Affair
2 coats

A Grape Affair is a dark purple crème inspired by Grape Fanta. This is really vampy, but still looks purple in the sun. Indoors, it does pull really dark. Still so pretty.

OPI A Grape Affair is from the Coca-Cola Collection, a 9 piece collection inspired by Coca-Cola beverages. I purchased the "10 Pack of Style", which contains minis of 8 shades along with a mini of Nail Envy as well as the OPI Top Coat. I also purchased a big bottle of Orange You Fantastic, the last shade in the set, because it wasn't available in a mini and because I had to have the complete set in my possession. :-)

Sally Hansen Hard As Wraps in Coral Creme

Sally Hansen Hard As Wraps Coral Crème
2 coats

A few years ago, actually probably 7 years ago (!!), I stumbled on to a fabulous sale at Walgreens and every shade in this line was only $1! I grabbed one bottle in each shade. I actually love this line- although I'm not sure it makes your nails "Hard As Wraps" it is definitely a great polish. I actually wore a red shade from this line as a pedi shade for about 2 years.

This is such a gorgeous summer color! There are several shades in this line that have the word "crème" in them that are actually frosts, and several that have the word "frost" in them that are actually crèmes! So strange! So note that this shade is definitely a frost and there are some evident brush strokes, but nothing too bothersome.

Maybelline Color Show in Gilded Rose

Maybelline Color Show in Gilded Rose
2 coats

Gilded Rose is a sheer rose gold glass fleck with small gold hex glitters and rose medium hex glitters. Although quite pretty, this was chip-tastic on me! It may have had something to do with the zillion water balloons I was making for our block party, but on day 2 I had chips on almost every finger! I may try this one again over a champagne base and see if that helps with wear.

It appears that Gilded Rose was originally a LE, part of the Brocade collection in Fall 2013. The bottle I recently purchased did not have the Brocade designation on the cap, so this may be a core shade now.

Butter London Disco Biscuit

Butter London Disco Biscuit
2 coats

Disco Biscuit, a bright pink jelly with purple micro glitter, is from Butter London's Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. I have seen other bloggers to 3-4 coats, but since it's a jelly, I figured I wouldn't mind a bit of VNL so I just did 2 to see what it looked like. And actually, the coverage is pretty good. I did find that coverage at the tips was lacking, even though I did my normal wrapping. It was almost like there was a bit of shrinkage overnight as well.

Still, it's an eye-catching pretty bright shade so I'm happy with my mani.

My kiddos had their first day of school yesterday and it's hard to believe they are in 3rd and 5th this year! They are growing up so fast.

OPI Get Cherried Away

OPI Get Cherried Away
2 coats

Get Cherried Away is a magenta creme inspired by Cherry Coke. I originally thought the formula on this was nice, and quite pigmented, but once I looked at my pictures I could totally see that I needed another coat. So frustrating!

OPI Get Cherried Away is from the Coca-Cola Collection, a 9 piece collection inspired by Coca-Cola beverages. I purchased the "10 Pack of Style", which contains minis of 8 shades along with a mini of Nail Envy as well as the OPI Top Coat. OPI Coca-Cola Red

OPI Coca-Cola Red
2 coats

Coca-Cola Red is inspired by regular Coke and is my favorite shade so far- and of course it's my favorite Coca-Cola drink. I found the formula on this polish to be perfect! Two coats gave complete coverage and it is so shiny and glossy and just gorgeous.

OPI Orange You Fantastic!

OPI Orange You Fantastic! (1 coats)
over OPI You're So Vain-illa (3 coats)

Orange You Fantastic has different shapes and sizes of red and gold glitter in a sheer yellow/orange base and is inspired by Orange Fanta. I applied one coat over my prior mani of You're So Vain-illa. The formula was pretty great- I got great glitter coverage in just one coat, and the sheer yellow/orange base added a neat tint to the base color I had on. It smoothed out nicely with a coat of Gelous.

OPI You're So Vain-illa

OPI You're So Vain-illa
3 coats

You're So Vain-illa is inspired by Vanilla Coke. I found the formula to be just OK- it needed three coats to get opaque coverage. It is a really pretty shade, but one that gives me a bit of Lobster Hands, so if you are warm-toned like me, you might have the same problem.

OPI Sorry I'm Fizzy Today

OPI Sorry I'm Fizzy Today
3 coats

Sorry I'm Fizzy Today is inspired by Vanilla Coke. I found the formula on this shade to be somewhat problematic. It was chalky, and even after two careful coats, I had streaking and it was visibly uneven, so I applied a third coat to get the coverage I wanted.

OPI My Signature Is "DC"

OPI My Signature Is "DC"
2 coats

My Signature Is "DC" is inspired by Diet Coke. The formula on this was FANTASTIC- it was practically a one-coater, and if I had been a bit more careful on that first coat I could have stopped there. It dried very fast and seemed dry before I even applied my quick-dry top coat. It's also wearing very well.... I painted these on Friday night, took the pic above on Saturday morning, and now it's Monday morning and it still looks fabulous.

OPI Green On The Runway

So you can see in most light, it's a gorgeous green shimmer.....

but then in other light, it's reddish brown! Gorgeous!

Wear Test: Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy

Fresh swatch pic:
mani done Thursday night before bed,
pic taken Friday morning
2 coats topped with ColorStay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat

Day 6, with 5 full days of wear:
pic taken Tuesday afternoon
note: one small chip, but virtually NO tipwear!

Verdict:

I believe the one chip I got was due to the two days we spent at the local water park and all the sunscreening I did. There is not even a hint of a chip on any of my other 9 nails. And the fact that there is no tipwear is amazing! I can't wait to try other colors in this system.

Have you tried this system yet? Both the colors and topcoat in the ColorStay Gel Envy line retail for approximately $8.

Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy in Pocket Aces

2 coats topped with ColorStay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat

Create salon-quality color in 30 vibrant shades with our revolutionary 2-step system. Brush on the base + color in one, and then finish with the protective ColorStay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat™ for superior strength. Together, they create vivid color, brilliant shine and gorgeous life-resistant wear.

I am LOVING this line! I am now on day 4 and this mani still looks perfect! I hope to take some pics tomorrow to show the progress. As far as home no-light gel polish goes, this is a front runner for me, along with the L'Oreal Extraordinaire Gel-Lacque system. In last place are CND Vinylux and the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel.

Both the colors and topcoat in the ColorStay Gel Envy line retail for approximately $8, but I was able to purchase a color and topcoat at Walgreens during a BOGO 50% off, and I also used two $3 coupons, so I got a fabulous deal.
