Sorry this wasn't posted yesterday. Technical issues, ya know. :)
Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics is a Canadian based company
that is starting to branch into the U.S. market.
Cheeky Monkey's nail polish line was started "with the intention of bringing a bit of fun into women's hectic and stressful lives. The names are meant to make you laugh and not take life too seriously for a few minutes out of the day; while at the same time make your nails look awesome".
They have 36 colors, as well as a top coat, base coat and a cuticle moisturizer with quite, ahem, unique names, that you can't help but smile while reading when you are trying to decide which color to buy.
I was sent the following to review:
From L to R: Cougar, One Night Stand,
Social Climber, I Like It On Top (topcoat), and Brazen Hussy
(told you the names were unique)
Each swatch is 3 coats with a topcoat.

I topped each swatch you see below with I Like It On Top:

It looks like it's pink in the picture, but it's not. It's totally clear. Each glass bottle (made from Italian glass!) has a tag attached to it. Each tag has a motivational/interesting saying on it.
Here's the tag that was on I Like It On Top:
Outdoors in the sun:

Brazen Hussy was not a color I was fond of when I first saw it. I didn't think it would work for my style or coloring. I was wrong. This is one of my favorites of the colors I tried. I mean really, do you see that shine? It even looks great Matte! LOVE IT!!!!Next we have, Cougar:
So true! I'm trying to figure out if they are trying to tell me something by sending me this color. I don't think I'm cougar age yet; isn't that like in the 40's? I'm only 37! I'm not ready for that aspect of life yet. :POutdoors in the sun:

I didn't think I'd like this color either, but I did once I saw it on my nails. I wasn't too happy with how it looked matte, but I totally dig the shine of it regular.Third is One Night Stand:

One Night Stand Matte:
This was my other favorite of the colors I tried. Of course, if you've read this blog for any length of time you probably already guessed that. :) One Night Stand is gorgeous straight out of the bottle as well as matte. I stared at this color so much when it was on my nails. I seriously didn't want to take it off. AWESOME!!!!Finally we have Social Climber:

This was the dud of the colors I tried. There's really no way to make mud look good on the ends of your fingers. This proves that. Sorry.Hey I liked 3 out of the 4, including a red and a fuchsia! I'm branching out people! :)
I decided to give the polish wear test to see how it held up to everyday life.
Below is Brazen Hussy after 4 days: (and you all thought it would be One Night Stand I wore for the wear test. HA!)

I'm not sure why my pinky nail looksa different color. Bad angle I guess.
As you can see above, the only casualties were my ring fingers. That scuff actually happened the morning I took the pictures. There is just minor tip wear on the rest of the nails, so I'd say it held up pretty dang well to the torture I put my nails through daily.
Y'all, check out what came with the polishes:
The emery boards are company labeled and adorably cute! The stickers made me laugh when I read them.
My polishes came boxed and wrapped with a Cheeky Monkey
ribbon in an adorably cute gift bag. Talk about customer service!
The Cheeky Monkey website is hilarious in it's own right. Each polish comes with a story that relates to the polish name, as well as a drink (complete with recipe) to go with it. For example, my polishes drinks were the Brazen Hussy, the Cosmopolitan, the You Never Know Cocktail, a Raspberry Champagne Cocktail, and an In & Out Martini. There's also a Try It On feature that allows you to see what the polish looks like on nails. I honestly spent over an hour one night reading all the stories, learning new drink recipes, and checking out all the cheeky fun ideas.
The Cheeky Monkey company is also very active in various women's organizations, associations and partnerships. They work within their own community, and give back to both human and animal causes. Finally a company that backs up what they say!
Some general opinions of the Cheeky Monkey polish line:
- application was smooth and easy, the polish wasn't too thick or too thin
- all quotes describing the polish above are from the letter accompanying the polishes and the website
- all Cheeky Monkey polishes are DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde free and rank a 1 on the skin deep cosmetics safety database (a 1-10 scale with 1 being the lowest hazard score)
- Cheeky Monkey polishes are available via their website and at select Toronto locations. There are no U.S. locations selling the products at this time. You can purchase the polish through the site for now.
- Cheeky Monkey polishes sell for $15 (Canadian) a bottle.

Wow, such a cool concept and product presentation. If we Canadians have something this cool and didn't know it, it's a shame :-)
That is really cool, I love the colors!
Love those- esp Brazen Hussy! What a fun company.
I guess I liked the only one you didn't like....social climber. I have been looking for a decent dark brown. lol
From the post name, I really thought this would be all about makeup rather than polish and must say I was beyond excited. I'm all about the makeup! But not to fear, I wasn't disappointed!
I really liked these polishes with the exception of Social Climber. I didn't hate it, just wasn't excited by it.
Loved Brazen Hussy, even matte which I ususally don't care for.
I'm gonna have to check out the website! I can't afford to buy the polishes right now but hopefully one day soon!
I love the inspirational sayings that come with them!
I love the colors, the packaging all of it but $15 each plus $10 shipping to California? no thanks. maybe if they had like a free shipping day or 1/2 off sale.
