CND Polish and Effects

After seeing Raz's post about the CND polish she received for filling out a survey, I went hunting on the CND website to see what other colors and effects they had to offer.

Needless to say between looking there
and seeing posts on another site, I fell in love.

I received the following to try and review:

From left to right: Oilslick, Amethyst Sparkle, Smoochie, Ice Blue Shimmer

PEOPLE: DO YOU SEE THE NAME OF THE PINK POLISH????

Can I claim they were thinking of me when they named it?

Probably not, but I'm going to anyway. I need a little love. :)

Ahem, sorry.

All swatches are 2 coats because this polish is just that good.
Click on the pictures to see more detail.

First to review: Smoochie

In full sun:

This polish looks pink in the bottle, but it was almost a red on me. It was pretty opaque in one coat, but I did a second to even out any mistakes I made in application (read shaky hands from the excitement).

Then I added Amethyst Sparkle to the left hand

I did alternating fingers so you could see the difference

Index and ring have Amethyst Sparkle,
middle and pinky don't.

All 4 fingers have Amethyst Sparkle

I wasn't impressed with how the polish changed with Amethyst Sparkle. All it really did was add a slight sparkle and color change. I was really hoping for more.

Then I added Ice Blue Shimmer to the right hand:

Again, alternating fingers so you can see the difference:

Index and ring have Ice Blue Shimmer,
middle and pinky don't.

All four fingers have Ice Blue Shimmer

I wish I had a better picture of all four with the Ice Blue Shimmer. This picture does NOT do the result accurately at all. The alternating pic is more representative of the difference. This color is gorgeous and is made even better when Ice Blue Shimmer is added. LOVE IT!!!!

Next up, Oilslick:

In full sun:

You think this is black, right? It's not.
It's like a super duper deep purple/blue/black all mixed into one.
The color that got onto my skin around the nail showed the purple well.

Then I added the Amethyst Sparkle to the left hand,
alternating to show the difference.

Index and ring have Amethyst Sparkle,
middle and pinky don't.

All four fingers have Amethyst Sparkle.

Now we have a noticeable color difference! It's hard to
see in the picture, but it's there-trust me.

My nails turned a deep, rich purple color with
a gorgeous sparkle that topped it off perfectly!

Then I added Ice Blue Shimmer to my right hand,
once again alternating to show the difference:

Index and ring have Ice Blue Shimmer,
middle and pinky don't.

All four fingers have Ice Blue Shimmer.

HELLO NURSE!

Do you see the beauty that occurred? GORGEOUS!!!!

The pictures speak for themselves.
No other words are needed here.

Some general opinions of these CND polishes:
  • application was smooth and easy. The polish wasn't too thick and it wasn't chunky
  • all CND polishes are DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde free
  • the press releases I received stated how CND was designed to be "rich and creamy in 2 coats". It totally is.
  • the releases also suggest applying one coat of the effects onto the colour. I added 2 coats because I liked how it made the effected colour pop more.
  • there are 50 colours as well as 15 different effects to choose from
  • CND can be purchased at bebeautiful.com, goindluge.com and timetospa.com for more information on CND, visit their website
  • CND colours retail for $9.00 and the Effects retail for $11.00. Both are sold in .33 fl oz bottles

I thought I'd like Amethyst Sparkle the best but I think I actually prefer the Ice Blue Shimmer!

I wonder what they look like on their own.
