Del Sol Part 2

Since I already did all the lead in with yesterday's post, let's just jump right in and get to all the color change goodness, shall we? :)

First up today we have Ruby Slippers:

In shade/indoors:

Ruby Slippers is a nice nondescript silver glitter polish.

I will admit that I am not a fan of glitter polishes when you can feel the glitter once the polish is dry. I had to apply a top coat with this polish to solve that problem.

In direct sunlight:

Ruby Slippers totally lives up to it's name!

I was a little upset that it wasn't quite as dark as it appears in the bottle, that and you still have VNL something fierce, but I was really pleased with the change. Once I applied the top coat and got rid of the scratchy glitter feeling, I loved it. This was one of my favorites.

Next up, Island Fever:

In shade/indoors:

we have a nice light green with a duochromeish appearance.

Here's another that is perfect for Spring and the office.
I loved the shimmer this one had.

In full sunlight:

it becomes this beautiful darker green!

I felt like I had just repainted my nails when I had this color on them.
Such a color change, but still so pretty!

Finally, Peek-a-Boo:

In shade/indoors:

Del Sol says this is their best selling color of all.

Really?

I'll be honest, when I first saw this color I was not impressed.

At. All.

When it arrived, I said to my daughter
that this was the last thing I'd EVER put on my nails.

It actually was the last color I tried
because I was dreading it so much.

It was like I wasn't wearing anything at all on my nails.

Hello, top coat.

Boring. Yawn.

But then....

In full sunlight:

HELLO!

Do you see that red????

I went a little thin when applying
as I wasn't really impressed with it indoors.
I should have applied it as I applied everything else.
It might have been darker then.

If you have a job where you aren't supposed to wear polish to work, but you do anyway, this is the color for you. It takes 5 minutes or less for it to revert back to clear once you're out of the sun.

This color quickly became my personal favorite, LOVED IT!
I apologize now for all the bad things I said about you Peek-a-Boo.
You rightfully deserve to be Del Sol's best selling polish,
I can see that now.

All of the swatches shown above were 3 coats each. Ruby Slippers was the only polish where I applied a top coat. Applying a top coat does not effect the color change process.

In full midday sunlight, the color change process takes less than 3 seconds. Color change can and will vary depending on UV-index, temperature, and number of coats applied. YMMV.

Once again, Del Sol nail polish is Formaldehyde, Toluene,
and Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) free.

Some overall thoughts on the Del Sol polishes:
  • Application was easy. The polish wasn't too thin or too thick. It went on easily and smoothly.
  • Other than the VNL with almost every color, I loved both the indoor and outdoor color versions of all the polishes.
  • The only real problem I had was that the brushes are small, I guess normal nail polish brush size. I'm so used to the pro-wide brush OPI has, it's awkward for me to use normal sized brushes now. That's my personal issue though. :)
  • Ruby Slippers was difficult to remove, but what glitter polish isn't? A little extra soaking isn't too much to ask for two different colors in one polish, I think.
  • I only kept these polishes on long enough for pictures. Once I was finished swatching, I went back and reapplied Day Dreamer to see how it fared for wear. I wore it for 4 days with a top coat and saw minimal tip wear. For me, that is perfectly average. My daughters have both been wearing the same color for 2 weeks. While K has almost completely worn her polish off, M's polish is still wearing strong with no difference in color change.
All in all, I was extremely pleased with the Del Sol polishes. Del Sol polishes can be purchased either through their online site or at one of their over 100 locations worldwide.

I wasn't impressed with Peek-A-Boo just looking at the bottle but I liked it when you showed what it looked like on, which surprised me. And got an even bigger surprise that I liked it even more in the sun!

I think my favorite out of all these is Day Dreamer.

My ALL TIME FAVORITE though is OPI DS Royal - can we see that one now please???

Oh, and who won the ORLY Enchanted Forest? I'm pretty sure it's not me since I didn't get an email from you but I didn't see the announcement anywhere of who did. Maybe I'm just blind!?
